Ready To Roll: Canon’s 35mm f/1.4 L II

Fresh from the rumor mill today,  is talk that the long-awaited replacement for Canon’s ageing 35mm f/1.4 L, has completed testing and is ready to go into production.  A release timeline is not yet known, and a lot of that rests on Canon’s ability to clear the backlog of lens production from recent releases like the Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS II, and the outrageously priced EF 11-24 f/4 L

The lens will probably be announced in the fall.

  • Dust & Weather Sealing
  • Latest coatings
  • Longer than the current version
  • Smaller diameter than the current version
  • Smaller filter thread (67mm?)
  • New hood design (presumably to incorporate circular polarizer usage like the new 100-400?)
