Ricoh Patent 75mm F/1.4 Lens for 1 Inch Sensors
Ricoh have patented a new lens designed to be used with one inch sensor camera systems. Interestingly some sites are claiming that this indicates that Ricoh will soon be entering into either the 1 inch compact, or 1 inch mirrorless market (Ricoh’s current camera the GR II uses an APS-C sized sensor). A closer look at the patent material however seems to suggest that the lens is actually perhaps destined for an industrial application with the patent stating that the lens would be destined for applications “such as an image input device for machine vision.” As with all interpretations of patents doing the rounds on the internet however it is hard to pin down exactally what we are seeing sometimes, so there is an outside chance that Rioch may be working an a new range of compact, or compact mirrorless cameras.
