Canon Patents EF-M 9-17MM F/3.5-5 STM

Canon has patented a new ultra-wide angle lens for their line of EOS-M mirrorless cameras. The EF-M 9-17mm f/3.5-5 STM features a stepping motor, so if this lens is destined for release then Canon are seemingly keen for it to be appealing for video shooters as well as photographers. The current native widest EF-M lens available is the EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM so the patented lens would plug a useful gap in the current lens line up.
