Patent: Was the Leica APO Vario-Elmarit SL 90-280mm F/2.8-4 Lens Designed by Panasonic?

A Panasonic patent has been published which details the design for a 90-280mm F/2.8-4 OIS lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. The patent may have some questioning if Panasonic are working on a full frame mirrorless camera, but instead it would appear that the lens depicted in the patent is the Leica APO Vario-Elmarit SL 90-280mm F/2.8-4. Comparison of the patent diagram, and a diagram of the Leica lens show the two lenses to be almost identical. It isn’t a secret that Leica and Panasonic have worked together in the past, it is interesting though to find a graphic depiction of the collaboration in action:
