Panasonic Lens Roadmap for 2016-2017
Panasonic unveiled their lens release plan for the remainder of 2016 and on into 2017, by showing prototypes of three new micro four thirds lenses:
- Leica DG 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 standard zoom lens (expected 2016)
- Leica DG 8-18mm f/2.8-4.0 wide zoom lens (expected 2017)
- Leica DG 50-200mm f/2.8-4.0 telephoto zoom lens (expected 2017)
The timeline is pretty loose at the moment, but we will work to uncover some more exact information in the coming months!
Currently the wide-zoom option from Panasonic is a 7-14mm f/4, whilst it would have been nice to see a constant f/2.8 aperture, I’m sure some Panasonic shooters will be pleased to at least get f/2.8 on the wide end of this upcoming 8-18mm. Should be a good choice for astrophotography!
The other lens that catches my attention is the 50-200mm. This has a much faster aperture than the current 45-200 or the 100-300mm. Overall, it’s nice to see some faster lenses available for Panasonic fans!
