Are Fuji Working on a GF 32mm Prime Lens for the GFX System?
It’s only been one day since the official announcement of the Fuji GFX 50S and the first three G-mount lenses and we are already beginning to see indicators of what Fuji have planned as additions to the current GF lens roadmap.
The following quote is taken from a GFX review by Damien Lovegrove, one of Fuji’s beta camera testers:
“When a 32mm prime becomes available that will become my 5th lens.”
Not ‘if’, ‘when’…
Does Damien know something we don’t? Are Fuji planning on adding a 32mm prime to the GF roadmap? It would certainly make sense; The current GF prime line up includes the Fujifilm GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR and we know a 45mm f/2.8 is on the way. In 35mm equivalent terms that covers the 35mm and 50mm components of the classic 24,35,50 setup, a 32mm f/2.8 would fill the vacancy for a 24mm equivalent rather nicely!
The mention of the 32mm in Damien’s review could of course just be a statement of what he would like to see, rather than a hint of what is already being worked upon, but there is no denying that adding a 32mm f/2.8 to the GF lineup makes a lot of sense.
