Have Fuji Canned the XF 33mm F/1.0?
Back in 2015 a rumor appeared which suggested that Fujifilm were developing a super fast XF 33mm f/1.0 lens, a lens that would upon release become the fastest ever member of the XF family. The lens was, according to the source at the time present on the Fujifilm internal roadmap and being actively tested. Jump forward to 2017 however and the news is not good, the latest info from camp Fuji suggests that development of the XF 33mm f/1.0 has been canned.
It sounds like the reason for the disappearance of the lens from the company’s internal roadmap may be down to the arrival of the GFX system and the push towards WR lenses across the XF range; Fuji have had to juggle resources to facilitate the arrival of a completely new camera system, and although an XF 33mm f/1.0 would be a fantastic addition to the XF range, in reality more consumers are buying f/2+ lenses with WR designs.
