Rumor has it that Canon have presented an internal lens roadmap which included two new ‘big white’ lenses to be announced in 2018. The roadmap apparently didn’t include focal length details but it is thought that the lenses could be the EF 600mm f/4 DO lens which Canon have already prototyped and either an updated EF 200mm f/2L IS or EF 800mm f/5.6L IS. Canon usually have something to announce in the run up to major sporting events so we will be looking forward to seeing how this one comes to fruition next year! Via:...Read More
Yesterday we brought you news that the new Leica TL2 was perhaps being withdrawn from sale due to an issue caused by the Visoflex viewfinder. Today we can bring you some more details and it doesn’t look good. An unknown source has provided the following information: “When using the Leica TL2 in combination with the external electronic viewfinder (Visoflex) a possible failure with the camera can occur. If this defect occurs, then it is no longer possible to use the camera.” Obviously this isn’t official but if it is true then it is a major problem for Leica, the...Read More
It’s time to wave goodbye to a couple of firm RDC favourites today as Fuji have discontinued the X-T1 and X-T10. The coming of the X-T2 and the X-T20, and the looming silhouette of the rumored X-T2s will be carrying the baton alone moving forward. There are no significant discounts on the two cameras as of yet, the X-T1 is still listed at $1,299 and the X-T10 at $799. Prices should drop soon however as retailers clear through old...Read More
There are rumors currently doing the rounds which suggest that the successor to the wildly popular X-T2 will be called the X-T2s and will feature on-board image stabilization. There are two points of note with this one folks. Firstly, does the ‘s’ of X-T2s stand for stabilization? If so is that all this camera is, an X-T2 with IS? Secondly, if the ‘s’ doesn’t stand for stabilization then are we getting an update rather than a next generation? Traditionally ‘s’ cameras feature incremental improvements rather than sweeping generational changes (unless you are Sony of course!). We will have to...Read More
It looks like the launch of the new TL2 mirrorless camera may not have been as smooth as Leica would have hoped. A European retailer has reported that “Following Leica recommendation” they have halted sales of the camera due to issues caused by the $540 Visoflex electronic viewfinder! further details are not forthcoming and the camera is still available at both Amazon.com and B&H Photo. We will let you know how the situation develops, this could of course be an isolated incident. Via:...Read More
Remember how in the run-up to the EOS 6D II announcement there was some excitement surrounding a mysterious mirrorless camera being called the EOS M20? At the time hearsay suggested the M20 would be released alongside the 6D Mark II but announcement came and went with no sign of the new EOS M. The latest news now suggests that the M20 will now be announced late this August. We still expect it to be a replacement for the ageing EOS M10, and it will no doubt features Canon’s 24.2 MP DPAF CMOS sensor. We know Canon has one unreleased...Read More
