Just Announced: Sony cyber-shot DSC-HX80 Digital Compact

Sony has today announced a new member of its popular Cyber-shot range of compact cameras, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX80.

The HX80 features a 18.2MP BSI Exmor R CMOS sensor, with images being processed by Sony’s BIONZ X image processor at up to 10 frames per second. The lens is a Zeiss 30x optical zoom unit which provides a 35mm equivalent focal range of 24–720mm. Viewing duties are handled by a 638k-dot pop-up OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3 inch 921k-dot tilting LCD monitor. Full HD 1080p video is also supported at 60 frames per second, and wireless connectivity is covered with both built-in Wi-Fi and NFC. The HX80 also features Sony’s optical 5-axis SteadyShot image stabilization.

Hardware wise the HX80 bears a strong resemblance to the Sony RX100 series of cameras and is housed in a body measuring 102.0 x 58.1 x 35.5 mm with a weight of 245g.
