Panasonic Lumix GH5 to use 16 Megapixel Sensor After all? No 6K Video.
A source at 43rumors has revealed that the Panasonic Lumix GH5 will not be getting a higher resolution sensor upon its release. We had previously heard that the GH4 successor would utilise a 20 megapixel sensor, and had stipulated that this may infact be the sensor currently used in the GX8 but the new source says otherwise. The GH5 will use the same 16 megapixel sensor as the GX80 and GX85, and improvements in image quality will instead come from a powerful new image processing engine. If this latest piece of information turns out to be accurate then we can finally put to bed one of the longest running GH5 rumors, which stated that the camera would be able to capture 6K video. 6K capture, in micro 4/3 format would require a 20 megapixel sensor at the very least, not too mention an extremely powerful processor, large battery, and heat dissipation hardware.
