Are Leica Planning a Range of M-Mount Cinema Lenses?

Leica are rumored to be currently working on a range of M-mount cinema lenses. The lenses are expected to be Summilux (i.e. f/1.4) range lenses, only built into cinema housings with cinema control gearing. The obvious extension of this rumor is that Leica therefore may well be working on a M-format camera with advanced video capabilities, or at the very least video in future M-format cameras may be more of a headline feature than it has been in past Leicas.

Leica already offers a range of C format cinema lenses, but the new M-mount lenses, if they come to fruition would represent a much more affordable option for users looking to use Leica gear to shoot video.

The rumor suggests that the lenses could be announces in time for Photokina this September, so keep your eyes peeled for more information!
