Nikon Patents New Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 FL Design

It appears as though Nikon is preparing to round out their super telephoto lens updates with the expected 300mm f/2.8 FL ED. Last year saw the introduction of a new 400mm f/2.8 FL ED, a 500mm f/4 FL ED and a 600mm FL ED, so the 300mm replacement is only a matter of time.

We would expect a small optical update as those previous lenses exhibited mild overall improvements, but the main update is the addition of the FL (fluoride) coating to combat flare and increase contrast.

The 200mm f/2 and 200-400 f/4 should see updates in 2017 to new FL versions.
