Leica Reveals new SL Lens Roadmap With 5 New Lenses

Leica has kicked off their Photokina schedule by revealing a new lens roadmap for their SL series of mirrorless cameras. The new roadmap includes 5 new SL lenses which will be rolled out between now and 2018, and 5 further lenses to be released from 2018 onwards, the details of which have yet to be revealed. The 5 lenses announced today are as follows:

  • Leica Summilux-SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH
  • Leica APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f/2 ASPH
  • Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f/2 ASPH
  • Leica Summicron-SL 35mm f/2 ASPH
  • Leica Super-Vario-Elmar-SL 16-35mm f/3.5-4.5 ASPH

The Leica Summilux-SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH will be the first of the newly announced lenses to enter the retail market, and is expected to arrive in January 2017. It will be the first prime lens available for the Leica SL system and will be followed by three further primes and one zoom lens.
