Canon Supertelephoto Zoom Lens Still in Development
Canon shooters have been crying out for a native EF mount supertelephoto lens for a long time now; The manufacturer currently sells the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II but those looking for more reach have otherwise been forced to look else where. The supertelephoto lens segment has traditionally been dominated by third party manufacturers with Sigma and Tamron both offering a number of decent options for those looking for long range zoom lenses, the latest news however suggests that Canon are indeed working on an in-house option.
The lens in development is thought to be something along the lines of an EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS, and unlike previous Canon supertelephoto patents which never resulted in releases, this time a retail unit really is supposed to be on the way.
Perhaps 2018 is going to be a good year for Canon supertelephoto lenses!
