CONFIRMED! Fuji Under Pressure to RESCUE Struggling Nikon!?
It sounds like the state of affairs at Nikon is still not good despite a bumper week for releases from the struggling Japanese manufacturer. The latest rumor suggests that Fujifilm are under direct pressure from the Japanese government to buy a stake in Nikon, presumably to prevent non-Japanese entities from gaining control of the company.
This isn’t the first time we have seen such an acquisition, Sony of course hold a large stake in Olympus. On paper the marriage of Fuji and Nikon almost makes sense, Nikon have strengths in the PRO and DSLR market place, whilst Fuji are strong in consumer and mirrorless products.
As of now this is just a rumor, but it will be extremely interesting to see how this develops.

UPDATE: Japanese magazine Sentaku has confirmed that the Japanese government are indeed attempting to create a relationship between Fujifilm and Nikon! Source.
