There has been various speculation recently regarding the direction Canon will take with their fixed lens premium compact cameras lately, including rumors that we would begin to see the now stalwart 24.2MP APS-C DPAF sensor becoming the norm. We have now been told that the next camera due for release, the G1 X Mark III should be thought of as an ‘EOS M5 with a fixed lens’, a sure indication that indeed, Canon will be deploying the 24.2MP unit. Some are also speculating that as such, the G1 X Mark II successor will also feature an EVF.
