Nikon Nikkor 600mm f/5.6 PF On the way

Nikon Nikkor 600mm f/5.6 PF On the way

We are told that Nikon are well on their way to announcing a new Nikkor 600mm f/5.6 PF lens, and we will likely see it in the runup to Photokina. PF lense elements typically use much thinner construction than traditional elements making them extrelely light and compact. Indeed a Nikon patent for such a lens surfaced earlier this year with the total barrel length being 33cm, this is a huge reduction over the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR which is 43cm in length.

The report also claims that the new lens will be significantly cheaper than the 600mm f/4 which costs a whopping $12,296.95, so if Nikon can pull this off then the lens is sure to be a hit with sport and wildlife photographers alike.
