Mathematics Ruins 2018 for Canon Fans!
Sad news folks, sensible old mathematics has cast a shadow over some of the anticipated releases from Canon this year. Life cycle calculations for cameras are certainly not an exact science but it does make sense for manufacturers to stick to some kind of rollng timeline so that development deadlines can be set.
We have been just as guilty about getting excited about some of the following cameras as anyone else but here is the cold, hard, mathematical evidence that suggests that this year will be a little dry. Starting with the EOS 7D III, EOS 90D and then the 5DS/R II watch the logis dismantle our dreams!!
- The Canon EOS 7D Mark II was announced 1320 days ago, the previous time between the EOS 7D and EOS 7D Mark II was 1637 days.
- The Canon EOS 80D was announced 799 days ago, the previous time between the EOS 70D and EOS 80D was was 961 days.
- The Canon EOS 5DS/5DS R were announced 1176 days ago, since there is no previous versions of these cameras, we’ll use the EOS 5D series dates. The time between the EOS 5D Mark III and EOS 5D Mark IV was 1637 days.
So there you go folks, looks like this will be the year of the mirrorless for Canon!
